A group of activists squatting an uninhabited Parisian mansion have been ordered to vacate it, but why should they?
It’s a well-known fact that renting a flat in Paris is a arduous process with many socioeconomic barriers. It is exceptionally hard when you are not well off, and almost impossible, as French-Algerian writer Faiza Gueneexplained, if you are also from a visible minority: many estate agents will just not allow you to visit flats and ignore your phonecalls.
