Dec 23, 2010 English 1st Paragraph
Regifting: It’s temping, cost-effective and potentially embarrassing. Repurposing a useful gift is really a manners minefield. So how do you turn that extra set of wine glasses into the perfect gift for your brother without getting caught? Here are a few tips on how to emerge scot-free, while passing along an unwanted item…
- Regift means give something (which is given to you as a gift) to another person as a gift.
- If something is tempting, or tempts you, it makes you feel that you want to do it.
- If something is cost-effective, it is good value for the money spent on it.
- If something is potentially embarrassing, it can make you feel uncomfortable (because you have done something bad or impolite).
- Repurposing means using something for a new or different purpose.
- A mine is a weapon. If you step on a mine, it will explode like a bomb. A minefield is an area full of mines. A manners minefield, is a dangerous situation in which (if you are not careful) you may do something which is bad manners (rude, impolite) and may hurt other people.
- A tip is a piece of practical advice.
- Scot-free means without something bad happening to you, without being punished.
