The Applied Business English Course |
 |
The Applied
Business English Course (ABE) employs a communicative and
applied approach, that is to say, the material used and
the areas, situations and topics covered will be mostly
related to your work environment and
there will be an emphasis on the ability to "communicate
and use" the language rather than learn "about" the
language.
There
will be no pre-teaching of grammar and vocabulary.
Rather the students are plunged directly into an English
atmosphere relating to their life and work
(semi-immersion) with grammar and vocabulary points
explained when needed along with the flow of the lesson.
The
course will cover areas such as discussing your job,
responsibilities, skills and qualifications; describing
your company's organisation chart, products and
services; marketing and competition; promotion and
advertising; the Internet and e-commerce; profit, assets
and balance sheet; mergers, takeovers and sell-offs;
trading and financial indicators, leadership and time
management; telephoning; writing emails and faxes,
managing business meetings, discussion techniques,
business presentations, and business negotiations.
